LO1/2: One aspect of the animation which I needed to expolre is the gold light which appears when the girl touches the blue feather and when she transforms. After looking at art work by Aquasixio- Cyril Rolando (link to research post) I experiemented in photoshop with brushes and animation with the aim to create a swirrling pattern. NM: these tests http://rebeccameilakfmp.weebly.com/environment/gold-light-effect-research The Aniamtion was well recived but there is room for improvemet.

As the work from Amy wasn't achivng the look I desired i decided to complete the test instead. it took me a couple of days to complete, with an extra two days to colour in and comp. this test has recived constructive feed back but it give me an idea how lond production will take for a 2D animated shot. Animation outline: This is the finished animation, 24fps, comped in after effects with fill effects also added to the girl to make her movement more engaging as she transformed. Below are the three different layers of the animation which were needed to create the comped test. The outline, the fill, and the fill outline. I created them in different colours so that I could see the separate layers easily when I animated them. Then in after effects I hade them all white, duplicated some layers and blurred them to creat the finished test. Animation Outline Animation Fill Animation Fill Outline I'm really happy with this test, the character moves well, is engaging and it was so much fun to create. This is the test which I will put in my pitch instead of the previous test.
I had the good fortune of re watching a favourite animation, Thought of You by Ryan Woodward and fell in love with the way the female character moved. Her elemental movement, the seamless way she transforms on screen is exactly what I wanted for my character so I completed a test after doing some preliminary sketches. This is the first draft: This is the test finished, animated on 12fps , and comped into after effects with some simple colour backgrounds and camera movement to get a sense of the girl's place in her environment. It is not a very good test. I don't like the way she moves, its clunky, boring and dis interesting. I need to make me more elemental, a product of her own thought, moving in a very fluid way. This test had been useful in showing me what I need and that this is not it. More tests to follow soon. For my pitch and character development I have decide to create an character test for the girl to experiment with how she moves. I did some 2D animation for her when I started to come up with ideas for these characters last term but the animation was far to basic. I was inspired greatly by Glen Keane's Duet, a hand drawn animation showing two characters growing up and denying the three minute sequence as a couple. I particular like the movement of the little girl and though there was a potential simalaitty between her character and mine. So I started a test to explore her movement as she comes in and out of human form. |
