LO7: Working with Sarah has changed the face of the project for the better. The backgrounds created work really well with Draco's hand drawn textures and the 2D girl. It was great to expedient with the mixed media in this way as the group learnt many short cuts in cheating environments. The only things modelled where proxy geo's to aid animation and that is it. Overall it has bee a great experience working with both Sarah and Alister in creating the shots.
LO5/6: Seeing as it was easier and clear to create the back grounds for the shots after the animation was created I gave shots to Sarah to paint while Alister would render them. by the time the both of them had delivered the shot can be comped together.
For this shot the only changes to be made are to change the swirl so the girl is standing directly in the middle of it- this again is done to lead the audience's eye to the girl as she is the focal point of the shot. The second feature I asked to be added on a separate layer is for some lighting to be added to the ground. the reason it has to be on a different layer is so that it can be animated disappear as the girl takes off giving the illusion that she is casting light in the environment. LO5/6: Shot 19 is the first shot Sarah produced with animation created for it.
Over Facebook- and keeping photoshop open we exchanged versions of the matte paintings with me adding notations for Sarah to revise. This shot was changed a few times to frame Draco's face more effectively and to change the direction of the swirls to lead the eye back toward the animation. Given the style of the backgrounds it would be lovely to animate the backgrounds slightly- possibly using a pin tool in after effects before compositing all the elements together. however i feel that this is unlikely to happen given the current production schedule as I am the only member of the team who have the after effect skills to carry out that task. LO5/6: During first term Alister and I discussed the idea of matte painting. now given Sarah's fast turn around and lovely style I have asked her to complete the backgrounds for this animation with Alister creating simulations where needed. The first shot I asked her to complete is shot 3 based on her concept art. over face book I gave her annotated feed back on her files before being given the final version. With the files i comped together the layers in after effects with my animation to see if the concept would work well. I feel that this shot works really well and will set the tome for the rest of the animation. Also through this system Sarah and I have established a form of effective communication and pipeline. LO5/6: The first concepts Sarha produced where very good- usingteh colour pallet well with interesting texts and with a fast turn around. with this first delver i decided to give her more shots Sarah deliver the second batch very fast and although i wanted some changes to the fish she is achieving the style I am looking for. however with the feedback given over Facebook Sarah is able to amend the concepts very easily.
LO5/6: To take on the role of concept artists as I worked on other elements I asked Sarah Delgado to take on the task of concept arts is to provide reference images for when Alister when to comping stage.
To introduce Sarah to the project i gave her the project brief and colour pallet and a list of shots for her to concept form the story boards. Out of all the people I have sent these files tow Sarah is the most important as she is now adding her style to the animation aesthetics. As with Alister I will be monitoring Sarah's progress face to face but also will be giving her annoyed feedback when working at different locations. |
